Before You Import From Harvest

A few minutes of setup saves a lot of fixing later. Do these before you open the import wizard.

The wizard reads dates and amounts using your workspace’s formats. Set them first in Settings › Workspace Details › Currency and Regional Formats. See Currency and Regional Formats.

The wizard matches the people in your Harvest files to people in your workspace. Anyone who isn’t in hrglass yet can’t be matched, so their hours and expenses go to the workspace owner.

Invite everyone first and wait for them to join. See Inviting Team Members.

Imported hours carry each person’s hourly value. Check everyone’s rate in Settings › Billing Rates before you start.

Export fresh CSV files from Harvest for each part you want to bring over. For reports, set the date range to cover all your history.

File Needed for Where to find it in Harvest
Clients Always Manage › Clients, then Export
Contacts Always Manage › Clients › Contacts, then Export
Projects Projects & tasks Projects › Export, or run the Projects report and export it
Time report Projects & tasks, Time entries Reports › Time › Detailed, then export as CSV
Expenses Expenses Reports › Expenses › Detailed, then export as CSV
Invoices Invoices Reports › Invoicing › Invoiced, then Export › CSV
Invoice line items Invoices (optional) Reports › Invoicing, then Export › Invoice line items (CSV)

Each CSV can be up to 15 MB, and there’s a limit on how many rows one file can have. If a file is too big, hrglass tells you. Export it again from Harvest with a shorter date range so it fits.
