What Comes Over From Harvest
The import wizard brings your Harvest history into hrglass in up to five parts. You pick which ones you want. Nothing is saved until you review each part and click its Import button.
Who Can Import
Section titled “Who Can Import”Workspace owners and admins. Go to Settings › Import Data. Don’t see it? Ask your workspace owner.
The Five Parts
Section titled “The Five Parts”| Part | What you get | Harvest files it needs |
|---|---|---|
| Clients & contacts | Your clients and the people you email at each one. Always included. | Clients, Contacts |
| Projects & tasks | Your projects with their budgets, and the tasks on each one. | Projects, Time report |
| Time entries | Every dated hour, attached to the task it was logged against. | Time report |
| Expenses | Dated expenses with their categories, attached to a project. | Expenses |
| Invoices | Your past invoices with their original numbers, dates, totals, taxes and payments. | Invoices, plus Invoice line items (optional) |
Some parts depend on others. Projects & tasks need clients. Time entries, expenses and invoices need projects. If you pick a part, the wizard ticks what it needs for you and marks it Required.
A Few Things Worth Knowing
Section titled “A Few Things Worth Knowing”Harvest keeps task names in the time report. That’s why Projects & tasks needs your Time report. The wizard reads it to build your task list. Your individual hours aren’t imported unless you also pick Time entries.
Imported invoices are records only. Nothing is emailed to your clients, no payment is attempted, and they’re never sent late payment reminders.
Invoice line items make invoices more accurate. With that optional file, each invoice comes in line by line, and each line lands on the right project, even when one invoice covers several projects. Without it, each invoice comes in as a single line for its total, and the wizard suggests a project for it.
Your work is matched to the right people. On a Team plan, the wizard matches each person in your Harvest files to someone in your workspace. Anyone it can’t match is credited to the workspace owner, so no hours or costs go missing.
Existing records aren’t duplicated. If a client, project or other record already exists in hrglass, the wizard offers to link to it instead of creating a copy.
Bring More Over Later
Section titled “Bring More Over Later”You don’t have to do it all at once. Import your clients and projects today, and come back for time and invoices later. Parts you’ve already brought over show Already imported. See Running the Import.
