The Project Page

Each Project has its own page with all its details, Tasks, money and notes. To open it, click a Project’s name on the Projects page, or click View Details.

The top of the page shows the Project name, when it was created, and its status. Click the status to change it.

Below that you can edit the Project’s details right on the page:

  • Project Name and Client
  • Description
  • Budget
  • Start Date and End Date
  • Assign To (Team plans only)
  • Default Tax Rates

Changes save on their own a second after you stop typing. You can also click Save at the top right.

Budget and Default Tax Rates only show if you can see financial data in the workspace. Fields you can’t edit show as read-only.

The Tasks list shows every Task on the Project and how many are done.

  • Add a Task: click Add Task.
  • Change status or priority: use the dropdowns right in the row.
  • Edit, duplicate, archive or delete a Task: use the actions menu at the end of its row. The menu also has Favorite and Start Timer.
  • Sort: click a column header, like Task, Status, Priority, Assignee or Billing. Click again to flip the order, and a third time to go back to your own order.
  • Reorder: drag a Task by its handle. This only works when no column sort is on.
  • See archived Tasks: click the eye icon next to Add Task.
  1. Check the box next to each Task.
  2. Use the bar above the list:
    • Edit or Duplicate (one Task at a time)
    • Status and Priority to set them for all selected Tasks
    • Archive or Unarchive
    • Delete

The Project Overview panel on the right sums up where things stand.

Section What it shows
Budget Total Spent against your Budget, with a progress bar and the percent used. Below it, Tasks Cost, Expenses and any Available Credit. No budget yet? Click Set budget.
Task Progress Completed Tasks out of the total, as a percent.
Timeline Start Date, End Date and Days Remaining. It turns red with under a week left and shows Overdue after the end date.
Expenses Number of expenses, Total billed and Total not billed. Click View expenses for the full list.

The Budget section and expense totals only show if you can see financial data.

When the Project has billable work that hasn’t been invoiced, Generate Invoice shows up at the top of Project Overview.

  1. Click Generate Invoice.
  2. Pick the Tasks and expenses to bill.
  3. Confirm.

If the Client has credit, hrglass asks if you want to apply it. You then land on the Project’s invoices page. See Creating an Invoice for the details.

If the Project has a Retainer, a Retainer card shows its dates, amount and how much credit is left. Click Open retainer to see it. See Retainers.

  2. Type your notes. You can use headings, bold, lists and links.
  3. Click Save.
