Turning a To-Do Into a Task
A To-Do is for the small stuff. But sometimes “send a quote” turns into a whole job. Convert it into a Task so it lives on a Project, tracks time and can be billed.
Convert a To-Do
Section titled “Convert a To-Do”- Go to To-Do.
- Click Convert to Task on the To-Do.
- Pick the Project.
- Check the Task Title and Description. They’re filled in from the To-Do’s title and note.
- Set the Status, Priority, Start Date and Due Date. The due date carries over from the To-Do if it had one.
- Fill in the billing details. You can pick a service under Assign Service (Optional), or choose a Billing Type. See Task Billing Types.
- Click Convert to Task.
The new Task shows up on the Project like any other. See Creating and Editing Tasks.
On a Team Plan
Section titled “On a Team Plan”The Task is assigned to you to start. Open Additional Users to add teammates. Every Task needs at least one person assigned.
Can’t see the billing fields? You don’t have access to financial data. The Task is saved without a billing type, and the workspace owner sets it later. See Task Billing Types.
What Happens to the To-Do
Section titled “What Happens to the To-Do”The To-Do moves to the Converted to Task card, with a Converted to Task badge. You can’t edit it or check it off anymore. The Task is where the work happens now.
To tidy up, click Clear All on the Converted to Task card. The converted To-Dos move to Deleted Items, and you can click Undo right after. The Tasks stay where they are.
